Hogwarts Legacy rumors have been floating around the internet since 2018 following a trailer leak. The game is set within the Potter universe set, roughly a century before “The Boy Who Lived” arrived at Hogwarts. You’ll play as a brand new character, not shown or depicted in any books or movies. You’ll learn spells, craft potions, participate in duels, and explore the vast and stunning open world.
The gameplay presentation showed many combat systems offering various spells to dispatch your enemies. Exploration is a big part of Hogwarts Legacy (both on foot and via flying broomstick). Not only will the entirety of Hogwarts to available for players to roam, but also nearby locations such as “Diagon Alley” and the “Forbidden Forest”! You’ll also be able to choose from the four houses to be sorted into.
To a few disappointed fans, there seems to be no multiplayer or PVP mechanic at launch. Focusing on the single-player experience and content for a game of this genre was the right choice. We’ll have to see what happens upon release, but this is shaping up to be one, if not THE one, of the most anticipated releases of 2023.
The initial Hogwarts Legacy release date is February 10 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One versions are set to arrive on April 4, with the Nintendo Switch port delayed until July 25.
