Top Anticipated Releases Remaining in 2023

As we close out the first month of 2023 with a few exciting game releases, we still have 11 more months of titles to come out. Let’s take a look at the anticipated remaining releases of 2023.

Redfall

Fresh out of the Microsoft and Bethesda Developer Direct is Redfall. An open-world co-op FPS from Arkane Studio filled with mystery, danger, and good old fashion vampire hunting. With all the recent gameplay videos shown, this is looking to be one of the most entertaining games of the year. Redfall is releasing on May 2, 2023, on Xbox Game Pass.

Hogwarts Legacy

It’s no surprise that the Harry Potter franchise is a global hit. The one thing that has been missing is a blockbuster video game release on current-generation consoles. Thankfully, in only a few short weeks, Hogwarts Legacy will be released. Now is the chance for everyone wanting to become a wizard to join one of the famous Hogwarts houses! Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10th, 2023.

Minecraft Legends

A surprise announcement from last year is Mojang Studio’s game, Minecraft Legends. An action-strategy game in the world of Minecraft. Have you ever wanted to defend your hand-built base from Piglins? Now is your chance! Minecraft Legends is releasing on April 18, 2023

Atomic Heart

Coming to Xbox Game Pass in February is Atomic Heart, a new action role-playing FPS inspired by the classic Bioshock series. Atomic Heart takes place in an alternative reality of the 1950s, where AI robots are commonplace everywhere. All the gameplay videos released for this make it look absolutely exciting! Atomic Heart releases on February 21st, 2023.

Starfield

The massive open-world space RPG Starfield launches into homes sometime in 2023. With many fans hoping this game is just Skyrim in space, we will have to wait and see what Bethesda studios have spent so many years developing. Starfield may not have a release date yet, but we know it’s a day-one Xbox Game Pass game.

Diablo IV

Fans have been waiting many years for the next installment in the Diablo franchise. With the recent disappointment of the free-to-play Diablo: Immortal, fans are dying to get their hands on a proper sequel to Diablo III. We’ll get to hack and slash our way through Diablo IV this summer on June 2nd, 2023.

Dead Island 2

Since the announcement of Dead Island 2 in 2014, there have been several changes in the development teams making the game. Thankfully after many years, there is a slated release date of April 28, 2023, with developer Dambuster Studios at the helm. Hopefully, no further delays will plague this open-world zombie action game.

Octopath Traveler II

One of my personal favorite Nintendo Switch titles is the original Octopath Traveler. The series has a unique art style that many games have since tried to imitate with HD-2D visuals. The game also features eight full-length storylines that follow each of the game’s main characters. Let’s see if this sequel can capture some of the magic of the first when Octopath Traveler II releases on February 24th, 2023.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Breath of the Wild is one of the top games released on the Switch and for some, is considered to be the best Zelda game of all time. While not much is known about its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, it will have some big shoes to fill to live up to its predecessor. Thankfully, we have an official release date of May 12th, 2023, so we don’t have too much longer to wait!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

This list wouldn’t be complete without a Marvel game! Thankfully Insomniac Game’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is here to hold down that spot. A true, full length sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man game, is likely my top pick for the most anticipated game of 2023. There’s something so therapeutic about web-slinging through the streets of New York that does it for me. Plus, who doesn’t love Spiderman? Unfortunately, no specific release date has been given, but marvel.com has it listed for “Fall 2023”. Fingers crossed for no delays!

So what do you think? Are there any other titles we missed? Or did I pick titles that you think are absurd? Let us know in the comments!
